| بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ | |
| In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. | |
| وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى |
01 |
| By the night as it envelops; | |
| وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّى |
02 |
| And by the day as it appears in brightness; | |
| وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَى |
03 |
| And by Him Who created male and female; | |
| إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّى |
04 |
| Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); | |
| فَأَمَّا مَن أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى |
05 |
| As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allâh and fears Him, | |
| وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى |
06 |
| And believes in Al-Husna. | |
| فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى |
07 |
| We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). | |
| وَأَمَّا مَن بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَى |
08 |
| But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient . | |
| وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَى |
09 |
| And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); | |
| فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى |
10 |
| We will make smooth for him the path for evil; | |
| وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّى |
11 |
| And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). | |
| إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَى |
12 |
| Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, | |
| وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَى |
13 |
| And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). | |
| فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّى |
14 |
| Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); | |
| لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى |
15 |
| None shall enter it save the most wretched, | |
| الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى |
16 |
| Who denies and turns away. | |
| وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى |
17 |
| And Al-Muttaqûn (the pious and righteous – see V.2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). | |
| الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّى |
18 |
| He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, | |
| وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَى |
19 |
| And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, | |
| إِلَّا ابْتِغَاء وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَى |
20 |
| Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; | |
| وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَى |
21 |
| He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). | |
